Bookkeeper Radio: A Bookkeepers Guide to Implementing eInvoicing

Register for FREE

eInvoicing Week runs from 15 – 21 August. Why? Its purpose is raising eInvoicing awareness in the greater small business community. Australian Bookkeepers Network has joined the initiative by hosting a special episode of Bookkeeper Radio with some help from some very special guests.

eInvoicing is a revolutionary way of processing invoices and is widely used overseas to achieve discernible benefits for business including cost savings, reduction in computer fraud and speedier payments. This session of Bookkeeper Radio takes a practical look at eInvoicing by focusing not only “why” we should adopt eInvoicing but “how” as well.

In this episode of Bookkeeper Radio, your hosts Kelvin and Peter will be joined by special guests Bruce Billson – Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman, Simon Foster – GM Product eInvoicing @ Xero and Kim Chapman – Bookkeeper/BAS Agent. Our guests bring different perspectives to the discussion: government, Digital Service Provider (DSP) and the bookkeeper practitioner. We discuss the implications of eInvoicing for business clients including:

  • Demystifying how e-Invoicing works
  • The benefits to business
  • The pain points being addressed by e-Invoicing
  • The overseas experience
  • The importance of widespread adoption
  • The implementation experience: options, costs and ease of adoption
  • Successfully positioning e-Invoicing with your clients

Unlike other new government initiatives this one is not compulsory so the success of its roll out will be driven by its voluntary adoption by the small business community. The “What’s in it for me (WIIFM)” message must be apparent to the small business owner and bookkeepers will play an important role in helping to raise awareness. Whether bookkeepers take a pro-active approach and take the eInvoicing discussion to their clients or a reactive one and wait for them to ask, it is important to understand the ins and outs and practical issues associated with its implementation.
