Membership

As at 30 June 2017, ABA had a total of 2,888 members. 2,240 of the total members were classed as voting. 1,928 of the total members had a BAS agent number recorded for them. (Actual number of BAS agents may exceed this figure.)

Complaints 

ABA takes all complaints seriously. A complaint could be either:

  1. a complaint against a member of ABA; or
  2. a complaint against ABA itself.

The Tax Agent Services Regulations 2009 require BAS Agent Associations, such as ABA, to have satisfactory arrangements in place for notifying members and clients of members about how to make complaints, and for the receiving, hearing and deciding of any such complaints.

Lodging a complaint against a member of ABA

Any complaint needs to be lodged with us in writing with us. You can email info@austbook.org.au or write to PO Box 1140, Springwood QLD 4127. Once received, the complaint will be handled in accordance with Section 8 of the ABA By-Laws.

The Tax Agent Services Regulations 2009 require BAS Agent Associations, such as ABA, to have adequate corporate governance and operational procedures to ensure that it is properly managed and its internal rules are enforced.

If a member of ABA or any member of the general public has any complaints or concerns about the adequacy of ABA’s corporate governance and operational procedures, they are urged to contact us by emailing info@austbook.org.au or writing to PO Box 1140, Springwood QLD 4127.

Once received, the complaint will be dealt with in a timely and professional manner. This may result in the forwarding of the complaint to an independent investigator, arbitrator or mediator.

Complaints received 

There were no complaints received against a member during the 2017 financial year.
